What You’ll Do
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Development Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for the successful development and launch of our new products, particularly mobile device cases, on a global scale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. They will work closely with our teams in product management, marketing, operations, and supply chain, and liaise with our China-based contract manufacturers to bring innovative products from concept to production. Other responsibilities include:
- Lead Product Development: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from initial concept through to production ramp-up, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap.
- Design and Material Selection: Collaborate with design teams to select appropriate materials and ensure product designs meet quality and aesthetic standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to drive product development and launch activities.
- Manufacturing Coordination: Serve as the primary US contact with China-based manufacturers, ensuring clear communication of requirements and addressing any issues that arise.
- Product Testing and Quality Assurance: Recommend and establish comprehensive product testing methodologies, ensuring products meet regulatory standards and quality expectations.
- Project Management: Develop and coordinate project timelines, budgets, and risk assessments. Escalate project challenges and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain meticulous documentation and quality checks throughout the product development process, ensuring no aspect is overlooked.
What You’ll Need to be Successful
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, with a focus on consumer technology accessories or similar products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ME preferred), Product Design, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification in project management is a plus.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong grasp of project management tools and methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage cross-functional projects.
- Experience working with overseas manufacturers, particularly in China, and a thorough understanding of international trade and logistics.
- Familiarity with CAD software (Solidworks), prototyping tools, and material science, particularly in the context of mobile device accessories.
- Expertise in product testing, quality assurance standards, and regulatory compliance for consumer products.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions.
- Understanding of global market trends and the ability to adapt products to meet diverse customer needs.
- Knowledge of sustainable materials and practices in product design and development.
