What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipper I position at ZAH Group?
The Shipping Clerk I works under close supervision of the Shipping Supervisor to prepare packages for shipment by packaging boxes and staging pallets according to the daily shipping schedule and delivery specifications.
Sort and stage pallets in the shipping dock by operating a Pallet Jack or by hand based on daily shipping schedule, truck weight limits and requirements.
Prepare packages for shipping by taping or stapling boxes shut and affixing completed address labels.
Generate air pillows at the shipping line by entering quantity and size needed in the air pillow machine and placing them in boxes.
Investigate packages that are flagged as not meeting the specified weight requirements on the shipping conveyor line and make necessary adjustments or escalate complex issues to the Shipping Supervisor.
Assemble specialized boxes for custom orders using a Staple Gun.
Empty cardboard and trash bins into the trash compactor.
May pick customer orders by operating RF Scanner to scan order tickets, pick product(s) in assigned zone and placing them in boxes on a conveyor system.
Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management.
Follow Six Sigma lean manufacturing standards to keep work area clean and safe from hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
Must be able to use a Pallet Jack and Staple Gun. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to work independently and with others. Ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.

Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach above shoulders, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
