Responsibilities:

• Comprehensive Skin Assessment: Assess the skin of new admissions, readmissions, and residents with newly identified wounds using established guidelines.
• Wound Assessment: Evaluate wounds on all assigned residents, including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic/neuropathic ulcers, skin tears, and surgical wounds.
• Treatment Execution: Complete all treatments on assigned residents following physician’s orders, ensuring the highest quality of care.
• Documentation: Document the healing process in the medical record weekly, detailing size, color, stage or depth, drainage, and other relevant information.
• Staff Orientation: Participate in the orientation of new staff, particularly in the areas of wounds, treatments, and prevention.
• Resident Rounds: Conduct resident rounds as assigned to assess the skin condition of each resident, reporting any issues to the Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing Service and taking necessary follow-up action.
• Safety and Emergency Response: Identify safety hazards, initiate corrective action, and quickly recognize and respond to special nursing problems and emergency situations in the absence of a physician.
• Educational Programs: Participate in facility educational programs, including orientation, in-service, and nursing assistant education, contributing to the ongoing development of our healthcare team.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Current unencumbered Illinois Nursing License (Required)
• Registered Nurse (Preferred)
• Current CPR certification (Preferred)
