Description
As a Junior Packaging Designer, you will be responsible for designing and producing packaging and display graphics for our mealtime and tabletop products, both for our brand and licensed products. You will work closely with the marketing team and Packaging Design Manager, following their design directions to ensure your artwork aligns with our brand identity and product vision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This position assists the studio with on-site tasks, including but not limited to the following:
- Develop packaging art concepts that maintain branding consistency for licensors and Zak Designs
- Work collaboratively with Marketing to design retail graphics
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and industry guidelines to ensure compliance with labeling, safety, and product information standards
- Meet timelines to ensure artwork is completed promptly and within the set timeline
- Communicate effectively to ensure packaging execution is according to design intent
- Ensure designs are maintained in organized and accurate digital files
- Prepare and finalize film files for production, ensuring they are correctly formatted and ready for the printing process
- Develop strong working relationships with design counterparts to ensure a cohesive Zak brand point of view
- Stay current with industry trends and color through self-initiated research and initiate opportunities for continuous improvement
- In addition to packaging design, this position will also support graphic design duties as needed.
Requirements

- Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and at least one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of different types of packaging material, packaging structure, and die-lines, and how graphic elements are applied is preferred
- Must have strong attention to detail and design aesthetic
- Strong listening skills and ability to follow feedback and design direction
- Must be able to tactfully deal with various personalities throughout the company and deal effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Strata Studio Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator, and have a constructive approach to challenges.
- Experience with Artios CAD a plus
