Job Overview The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the bakery and café facilities, equipment, and machinery remain in excellent working condition. This role includes preventative maintenance, repairs, and compliance with food safety standards while managing third-party vendor relationships and supporting operational efficiency.
ReportingThe Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Maintenance Manager Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Facility and Equipment Maintenance
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment, adhering to manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Address maintenance requests based on urgency: emergency, urgent, or routine needs.
- Perform weekly preventative maintenance checks and maintain accurate documentation.
Repairs and Vendor Coordination
- Order replacement parts and manage inventory for maintenance tasks.
- Evaluate whether to perform repairs in-house or engage third-party technicians.
- Coordinate and oversee vendor interventions, ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace standards.
Food Safety and Workplace Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations during maintenance activities.
- Ensure tools and parts are secured and areas are cleaned to prevent contamination risks during and after repairs.
- Participate in the development and execution of Food Safety and Workplace Safety Plans.
Team Training and Collaboration
- Train team members on proper equipment use to prevent mechanical failures and accidents.
- Serve as a point of contact between maintenance, production teams, and management.
General Operational Support
- Manage and track the maintenance budget in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
- Respond promptly to exceptional circumstances, including after-hours emergencies, to minimize operational disruptions. This includes being on-call for any situation that threatens, delays, or interferes with production or business operations. Examples include mechanical breakdowns, electrical or plumbing failures, HVAC malfunctions, workplace safety concerns, weather-related emergencies such as hurricane preparedness, pest infestations, security breaches, or power outages. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for assessing the urgency of issues, coordinating immediate solutions, and ensuring effective communication with relevant teams to maintain safe and continuous operations.
- The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for workplace safety compliance, including regular inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and exit signs. Additional duties include ensuring clear and unobstructed emergency exits, addressing slip and trip hazards, managing first aid kit supplies, and conducting periodic safety audits to identify and mitigate potential risks. The role also involves training team members on safety protocols and reporting any incidents or safety violations promptly.
The main and essential functions of the position involve:
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Coming to the facility during exceptional circumstances (e.g., days off or nighttime emergencies).
- Working in environments with varying temperatures and flour dust.
- Climbing ladders and using tools or heavy machinery.
- Maintaining composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Any other additional main and essential functions the position may require.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
