What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Safety Supervisor position at Zampell Refractories, Inc.?
Position Description:
Reporting to the division manager, Safety Supervisor responsibilities include traveling to Zampell jobsites and ensuring compliance with internal, state, and OSHA/federal safety regulations. The Safety Supervisor will conduct regular safety orientation with all new employees and complete annual training with current employees. The Safety Supervisor will interact with all current employees on the job site and shop to ensure safety awareness and compliance. Additionally, the safety supervisor will inform all employees of new regulations and procedures when they are developed or mandated. Additional responsibilities include accident investigations, vehicle inspections, and maintaining and tracking Zampell safety equipment.
Specific Duties:
- Overnight travel to Zampell jobsites and complete safety audits and promote best practices.
- Must be comfortable with working from heights, confined spaces, or both simultaneously.
- Must be capable of entering man doors.
- Must be capable of climbing scaffolding for inspection of job sites.
- Conduct Safety Training for all Employees
- Maintain current safety / MSHA training for employees in paper file and online through Zampell data storage software
- Scheduling Pre-employment and Annual Physicals
- Handle all Documentation for Accident Investigations
- Maintaining, managing, and tracking Zampell safety equipment (confined space monitors, specialized fall protection equipment, etc.)
- Participate/lead Safety Meetings
Position Requirements:
- Overnight travel to jobsites – no more than 20% of the time
- Must have a clean driving record and the ability to travel to and stay on Zampell job sites for multiple days as required. (Vehicle will be provided)
- Must have experience working in plant environments (energy utilities, paper mills, aluminum, or similar), confined space entry, and scaffolding.
- General proficiency with computers (ex. Microsoft office, safety training data entry)
- Team player with strong communication skills, comfortable with addressing employees, presenting training, and representing Zampell at customer safety meetings.
- Must be organized and able to take initiative.
Qualifications/Certifications:
- Safety certification (Degree, CHST, or similar in occupational safety)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in relevant position.
- OSHA 30 in Construction
- MSHA part 46 general practices and documentation preferred
- PIT Certs. (Forklift, LULL, AWP, Etc.) preferred
- Bilingual preferred

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
