What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mason, Mason Tenders, Insulators, and Scaffold Builders position at Zampell Refractories, Inc.?
Zampell is chiefly involved with the engineering and construction of refractories, insulation, scaffolding, coatings, and corrosion within the industrial and commercial sectors. We are looking for experienced and entry level masons, mason tenders, insulators, and scaffold builders.
Masons: Independently performs masonry work in the repair and construction of furnaces including boiler enclosures. Masons are trainees and/or experienced bricklayers who have completed a period of employment as Mason Tenders or have prior bricklaying experience or trade school training in masonry arts. Special refractory masonry skills including blueprint reading, welding and burning are not required for this position.
Mason Tenders: Mason Tenders are mason trainees. They perform some masonry work under supervision and act as assistant to masons, carrying brick to the work site and working to provide brick, mortar and other materials as needed to improve the efficiency of the mason, or to work alongside the mason (as required by the most efficient approach to each specific job). Experience preferred: related vocational training or 1-2 years of experience as a laborer in the construction industry.
Insulator: You will be Responsible for the application of insulation materials for industrial and commercial applications. Duties include applying insulation material on various applications with hand tools such as saw, snips, crimps and banders. removing of old insulation material, preparing insulation blankets for installation on various applications.
Scaffold Builder: You will erect and break down temporary scaffolding for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate must be proficient with standard power and hand tools and able to follow all industry-related safety regulations. Duties include constructing and securing scaffolding around construction projects, inspecting your work for safety issues, and breaking down the structure once the project is complete. Position requires travel to job site including overnight stays. Some travel may require air travel.
Additional beneficial skills are welding, carpentry and/or metal forming. If you have no refractory mason experience, but experience in brick masonry, carpentry, welding, and construction labor; these all translate well to the skills needed to be a successful refractory mason.
All positions require overnight travel to customer sites. Reliable transportation is required. Zampell will provide On-the-Job training in refractory.
