What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor (Insulation, Scaffolding, Masonry) position at Zampell Refractories?
Position Description:
You will paint and assist insulators and scaffold builders in the application of insulation materials and erecting and dismantling scaffolding as needed to improve the efficiency of the work being performed.The ideal candidate must be proficient with standard power and hand tools, painting, and able to follow all industry-related safety regulations.
Specific Duties:
- Clean equipment or facilities, protect surfaces on structures or near work areas to prevent damage.
- Prepare smooth surfaces on structures or near work areas to prevent damage, clean surfaces in preparation for work activities.
- Mix substances or compounds needed for work activities, apply material to fill gaps in surfaces.
- Assemble temporary equipment or structures.
- Carry products, materials, or equipment between work areas.
- Prepare, apply, and remove insulation material on various applications with hand tools such as saw, snips, crimper, and bander.
- Responsible for general housekeeping duties at job site including repairing tools, maintaining job trailer including organizing uniforms and safety supplies.
- Assist scaffold builder in constructing and securing scaffolding around construction projects.
- Inspect your work for safety issues.
- Assist in breaking down the structure once the project is complete.
- Smooth and finish surfaces using appropriate tools (hand or power tools, floats, trowels, screeds).
- Prep work to set forms to specific standards, such as chipping, bushing, and grinding.
- Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel or wetting and rubbing concrete with abrasive stone to create finish, place concrete to ensure proper elevation.
- Removing rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer.
- Grind, chip, or blast to prep surface for materials, or as finish.
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
Position Requirements:
- Must be capable of entering man doors for confined space entry work.
- Must be capable or climbing scaffolding for inspection of job sites, comfortable with heights.
- 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. Opportunity for overtime/mandatory overtime based on client schedule demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.71 - $26.14 per hour
