Zand Dermatology specializes in skin cancer, holistic dermatology, and cosmetic enhancements with a natural aesthetic. As a small family business, we are looking for a bright, highly motivated medical assistant who is excited to figure out new things, a real go-getter with strong initiative and excellent follow through. We are a boutique practice that is mostly self-pay, so warmth and sweetness in patient care are of utmost importance to us.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for PRE-MED or PRE-PA/NP students to assist hands-on and learn about a medical practice dedicated to positive patient experiences. It would be an ideal fit for a pre-health student who is taking 1-2 gap years and wants to gain first hand experience in the medical/surgical field, build their resume, and attain a strong letter of recommendation while applying to graduate/medical school.

Dr. Sarv Zand is a vibrant and engaging female board-certified dermatologist who loves to mentor and teach. She is warm and approachable, offering constructive feedback regularly in a supportive manner. Dr. Zand's educational background includes a dual M.D. from Harvard Medical School and MIT, and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins. She was Chief Resident of Dermatology at UC Davis, where she was responsible for the educational training and board preparation for all junior residents. Her prior Pre-Med Interns and MAs have loved the experience, and gone on to medical school at Columbia, UCSD, Albany, U. Arizona, USF, Touro, and UC Irvine. The location:

Stunning office with sunny, expansive water views! Located on a public shore with beautiful walking paths. In Mill Valley, Marin County, adjacent to 101 freeway, 8-10 minute drive from San Francisco, 35-45 minutes from Berkeley. Free parking.

Part time to Full Time schedule:

• 3 days per week, with flexibility to work 2 or 4 days per week, from 8:30am-7:30pm, 8-10 hour days

• Starts ASAP

• Available for at least 1-2 years

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

• Surgical -- assist in skin cancer removals; assist in skin biopsies; perform suture removals; explain post-op wound care

• Medical -- greet patients and establish a warm rapport, type detailed and accurate medical history, listen closely and scribe detailed notes rapidly, answer basic medical questions

• Cosmetic -- assist in treatments such as Botox, fillers, lasers, chemical peels; help soothe patients and manage anxiety

• Back office medical -- call patients with biopsy results, explain skin cancer diagnoses and treatment plans, create templates for medical visits in our EMR, update patient forms, create educational handouts

• Receptionist/Help with front desk -- periodically answer patient calls, explain services we offer, schedule appointments

• Administrative support -- order supplies, monitor inventory

• Skin care product sales – provide advice on ingredients and uses, ring up sales

Qualifications:

• High energy with a warm, outgoing personality - you love talking to people and have a fun yet professional, poised demeanor

• Self-starter – can take on multiple projects and run with them to successful completion, great at online research and figuring out new things; real go-getter attitude, being always ready to help our patients or your teammates

• Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, social media, EMRs

• Good at multitasking – checking patients in and out, handling phone calls, admin work, and managing higher level projects at the same time

• Perk – You not only love skincare, you have a working knowledge of dermatology services and skincare products

• No prior medical training or experience necessary for self-motivated candidates. We will provide you detailed protocol notes and dermatology notes to study, so you feel confidant and prepared for this important patient care role

Compensation and Perks:

• $20-24/hr depending on prior clinical experience

• 2 weeks paid time off (PTO) after 90 days of full-time
