Position Summary
Responsibilities include helping to facilitate period close, prepare journal entries, complete account reconciliations, research variances, identify process efficiencies, create and maintain quarterly and annual auditor schedules and ad hoc projects as assigned. Utilize various accounting software systems to retrieve and analyze information to verify completeness and accuracy of financial information and reports. Compile and report various data and help in reviewing accuracy of accounting transactions affecting the general ledger. Provide additional support to other members of the accounting team as needed.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Manages operational data and ensures data integrity and accuracy, as well as development of operational procedures and documentation of data flow
- Prepares accurate reports and support for financial statements
- Reviews the monthly financial statement and year-end audit report for accuracy
- Audits workflow to ensure that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized
- Assists in the month-end closing and financial reporting process, including account analysis and reconciliation
- Assists in coordinating the annual and interim financial statement audits with external auditors, including preparation of all supporting schedules
- Prepares client invoices
- Understands the payroll process
- Analyzes billing, expenses, and job costing
- Performs job close-out procedures and job analysis
- Performs financial analysis of balance sheets and income statements
- Maintains fixed asset system of all property and equipment
- Responsible for ensuring all payroll taxes and fiduciary responsibilities are met
- Reviews contracts and follows project set-up and billing procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity in project accounting
- Develops and maintains documentation of internal procedures
- Works on special projects, as requested, and assists others as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA required
- Comprehensive and working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Revenue Code (IRC), organizational auditing, fixed asset accounting, and tax filing requirements
- 15 or more years of experience as an Accountant with progressive responsibilities
- Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Department of Defense (DoD) compliance experience and reporting a plus
- Business Central 365 and Power BI experience a plus; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with Construction/Engineering Government contracting
- Willingness to cross-train to learn all aspects of accounting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships
- Ability to analyze issues and suggest solutions, and see obstacles through to resolution
- Work independently with limited oversight, and must be detail-oriented and organized
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity
