TAX SPECIALIST
Based in our NYC Corporate Office (not remote)
Purpose:
Research and deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations for USA, PR and Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Property Tax – preparation of required annual property tax returns and review of assessment and final bill. Monitor and control receipt and issuance of all property tax returns.
- Sales and Use tax – Compliance of all tax changes for the updates on the POS. Monthly Sales Tax Returns Preparation/Review and control. Experience in Vertex O Series.
- Unclaimed Assets – Review and submission of stale items based on their escheatment laws.
- Withholding Tax – Monitor and issue payment on all withholding tax booked for both related and non-related party transactions. Payment are issued Monthly and then reported on an annual summary return.
- Supplemental reporting and tax filings
- Preparation for supplemental schedules and reports required by Tax Authorities.
- Maintain tax balances on general ledger – perform reconciliation of tax related accounts to ensure accurate balances.
- Assist in preparation of supporting documentation during Tax Audits for USA, PR and Canada.
- Work with the various accounting groups to obtain the necessary information needed to prepare quarterly estimates, federal and state tax returns.
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision analysis
- Monthly and annual tax reporting to Parent Company
- Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments for assigned legal entities and reconcile the tax payable/receivable account
- Follow up on all compliance matters in regards of Taxes deadlines and obligations
- KPI Reports
- Research and analysis of various tax topics (CCH research experience)
- Providing support to obtain licenses
- Posting and performing tax accounting entries
- Supporting other departments with tax requests
Personal Profile:
- CPA or BA Degree in Accounting/Tax/ACCA Qualifications
- Min 5 years’ experience in tax reporting and accounting, both for Indirect and Direct taxes.
- Preferable audit experience
- Experience in a tax department within the Retail industry is a plus
- Knowledge of Indirect tax (taxability of transactions)
- Knowledge of property tax and business licenses
- IFRS, US GAAP and ASPE knowledge
- Strong MS Office and MS Excel skills
- Experience in Vertex O Series
- Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all levels
- Able to work independently and highly meticulous
- Must have completed 90 days introductory period in current position.
- Must be in good standing with respect to job performance.
- Experience with SAP
Annual compensation range: $86,000 - $120,000 discretionary annual bonus
