We are a successful general contractor seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Construction Estimator to join our team in our Boston area office. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in project planning by collecting and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive project cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Collection and Evaluation: Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project scope, budget, and timelines.
- Cost Estimation: Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, considering labor, materials, and equipment.
- Scope Review: Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements and potential risks.
- Subcontractor Management: Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality work.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to refine estimates and adjust as needed.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports, including comparisons of bids and recommendations for award decisions.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date on market trends, labor costs, and material prices to ensure competitive estimates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
