We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Groundwater Modeler with 7 or more years of professional experience in groundwater modeling. This position involves leading and executing complex groundwater modeling projects to support remedial design and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have advanced technical expertise in modeling software, parameter estimation techniques, and programming.
Key Responsibilities

Groundwater Modeling for Remedial Design:
- Develop, calibrate, and apply groundwater flow and contaminant transport models to support remedial design and evaluation.
- Analyze and interpret modeling results to inform project strategies and decision-making.

Model Development and Software Expertise:
- Utilize advanced modeling tools such as MODFLOW-USG, Groundwater Vistas, and IES.
- Apply parameter estimation techniques using PEST or PEST .

Python Programming:
- Develop and implement Python scripts for automating model workflows, data analysis, and visualization.
- Integrate Python programming into modeling workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Data Analysis and Integration:
- Synthesize hydrogeologic, geochemical, and environmental data into model frameworks.
- Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty evaluations to enhance model reliability.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate modeling insights into broader project goals.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Geosciences, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in groundwater modeling, including remedial design applications.
- Proficiency in MODFLOW-USG, IES, and Groundwater Vistas preferred
- Expertise in parameter estimation using tools like PEST and PEST .
- Strong Python programming skills, with experience in developing scripts for modeling workflows.
- In-depth understanding of groundwater flow principles, contaminant transport, and model calibration techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with iterative ensemble smoother (IES).
- Advanced knowledge of uncertainty analysis and parameter optimization.
- Familiarity with multi-disciplinary projects involving hydrogeology, geochemistry, and remediation.
Work Environment
This role is 50% work from home and 50% office-based work with opportunities for occasional field visits. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is a core aspect of the position.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $100,000–$140,000 commensurate with experience
