POSITION TITLE: DISHWASHER
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid Food Handler’s Permit. Must be in good general health and have a neat, clean appearance.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be able to follow oral and written instruction.
2. No formal job experience is required – Training is on-the-job as needed
3. Must be familiar with or willing to learn the basic principles of Kasruth (Kosher) food laws in relation to equipment and serving item and china usage and placement in the kitchen and/or storage areas.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Performs simple repetitive tasks with supervision in kitchen areas.
2. Operates dishwashing equipment as needed during the day and hand washes larger items.
3. Assists in maintaining over all sanitation of kitchen.
4. Empty trash containers.
5. Sweeping and mopping of all floors.
6. Heavy cleaning on a scheduled basis.
7. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Chef on duty.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS;
1. Dishwashing equipment.
2. All manner of cooking implements and tools, china, glassware, silverware and serveware.
3. Dust mops, wet mops and buckets, cleaning solutions.
WORKER TRAITS
1. Good manual dexterity in operating equipment as needed.
2. Organizational skills helpful in returning washed items to proper storage areas with special emphasis on Kosher divisions.
3. Maintain efficient use of time in performing repetitive tasks through out the day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Moderate lifting of mop buckets and large pots and pans (Minimum of 50 lbs.).
2. Considerable walking and standing.
3. Hands are frequently in water and chemical solutions. Heavy gloves are available as needed.
4. Subject to extreme changes in temperature (mopping in the walk-in refrigerator/freezer areas).
5. Must be aware of the hazard of falls due to wet and slippery floors and use wet floor
6. signs for safety. Must follow safety procedures at all times.
