The Zaxbys Support Center is looking for a Sr. Manager, Food Safety to join the Quality Assurance team. The Sr. Manager, Food Safety is responsible for the creation of a food safety culture within Zaxby’s restaurants by providing support and guidance to Zaxby’s restaurant franchisees and Operations and through the development of various food safety programs.

This position is based in Atlanta, GA area and allows for a hybrid work schedule that includes 3 in-office days per week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide support and guidance to all Zaxby’s franchisee and company stores through the development of food safety protocols and procedures
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for FDA Food Code and ensures Food Code Compliance
- Monitor and provide Food Safety updates from the FDA Food Code and local regulatory agencies
- Track trends in Food Safety regulatory data and share suggested action plans
- Serve as liaison between Zaxby’s franchisees/company stores and local health departments
- Serve as a primary resource addressing questions and concerns about regulatory inspections
- Manage Health Department Inspection Protocol which requires submission of all HD inspection reports within 24 hours (Company Stores currently; expand to franchisees)
- Review all restaurant procedures (Ops Manual), processes, and equipment to ensure compliance with all governmental food codes
- Advise all departments, during all development phases, on how proposed changes to equipment, food prep processes, and facility design (including plan review) will affect compliance with regulatory codes
- Manage third party (Steritech) Food Safety Assessment Program
- Conduct Food Safety risk assessments for the entire Brand and outline mitigation measures and identify mitigation gaps
- Lead all Imminent Health Hazard situations (Foodborne Illness Investigations, HD Store Closures, Repetitive Steritech Failures, Pest Infestation, Loss of Power, Loss of Hot Water, Loss of Water, Boil Water Advisories, Misuse of Poisonous or Toxic Materials, Fire/Flood/Other Natural Disasters, Sewage Back-up, Gas Leak, etc.)
- Maintain Employee Health Policy requirements
- Manage the Food Allergen program and create Allergen Disclosure Statements for menus, website, apps, etc.
- CP-FS Certified Professional - Food Safety.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations from a food safety perspective with ability to investigate food safety and quality complaints
- Knowledge of food codes from all relevant regulatory agencies and how they relate to industry-specific operations
- Experienced in providing consultative feedback: evaluate a situation and give multiple solutions to meet changing business needs
- Proven experience interacting effectively with regulatory authorities in various states/provinces
- Knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, USDA, and FDA including State and local health and food safety codes
- Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication skills)
- Very detailed oriented
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field required
- Experience: 3 years of experience in regulatory and/or restaurant industry food safety; 1 years of experience as Food Safety Manager or industry Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager
