General Functions
Responsible for negotiating and acquiring real property and associated land interests through purchase, donation, condemnation, or lease. Work is conducted with minimal supervision and is evaluated for compliance with project requirements, objectives of the Real Estate Management Division, established guidelines, County policies, and State statutes.
Representative Duties & Assignments
- Conducts real estate negotiations that may have economic, social, or political implications for the community and environment.
- Resolves challenges in property acquisition by applying sound judgment, real estate expertise, acquisition procedures, and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, including eminent domain laws.
- Engages in fair, courteous, and effective negotiations.
- Addresses objections and opposing views to achieve successful agreements.
- Secures necessary documentation to establish clear property titles and communicates with property owners or their representatives.
- Manages multiple property negotiations across various projects.
- Interprets contracts, leases, construction plans, right-of-way maps, architectural and engineering drawings, appraisal reports, and title searches.
- Provides justification for settlements through written reports and oral presentations to management and relevant departments.
- Maintains and oversees project files, records, reports, and contract provisions.
- Monitors assigned projects using the Real Estate Management Division’s tracking system.
Job RequirementsMinimum Security Clearance:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Three years of experience in right-of-way acquisition, real estate negotiation, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a Florida Driver’s License within six months of employment.
- Ability to obtain a Notary License within six months of hire.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in real estate negotiation and acquisition involving eminent domain.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and Windows-based applications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
