Job Title: Estimator – Underground Utilities Projects

Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for underground utilities projects, ensuring all materials, labor, equipment, and other associated costs are thoroughly accounted for.
This role requires a deep understanding of underground utility systems, project specifications, and construction techniques.
Key Responsibilities:**
Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents related to underground utility construction projects.
Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment for each phase of a project, from site preparation to completion.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimates.
Analyze historical cost data and current market trends to ensure estimates are competitive and accurate.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the scope and complexity of projects.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to underground utility installations.
Prepare bid proposals, cost reports, and project schedules.
Assist in the negotiation and award of contracts based on estimates provided.
Monitor project costs and assist project managers with cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in regulations related to underground utility construction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in estimating underground utility projects (water, sewer, storm drainage, etc.).
Strong knowledge of underground utility construction techniques and materials.
Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage, or similar).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications.
Knowledge of local building codes and regulations related to underground utilities.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with government and municipal utility contracts.
Certification in estimating or project management (e.g., AACE, PMP).
Familiarity with GIS and other utility mapping software.

Pay: $104,425.00 - $150,000.00 per year
