About The Position
- We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing Team (EMEA). In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, supplies, and services to support manufacturing and project operations. You will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure the successful and timely delivery of high-quality products, while identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- This position is ideal for someone with a background in engineering and manufacturing purchasing who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Procurement:
- Purchase materials in line with approved manufacturers’ lists and project specifications.
- Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with company financial and procedural guidelines.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with project managers, supply chain teams, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity on requirements, delivery schedules, and budgets.
- Provide regular project procurement updates to stakeholders.
- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal delivery performance.
- Work with the Vendor Manager/Supplier Development Engineer to evaluate and improve supplier performance.
- Inventory and Stock Control:
- Monitor and replenish stock levels based on MRP system reports.
- Support periodic and annual stocktakes.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements in procurement processes and workflows using systems such as SAGE 200.
- Contribute to the creation and achievement of team KPIs.
- Leadership:
- Provide direction and support to team buyers as needed.
- Travel:
- Occasional travel to supplier locations may be required.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years in a senior procurement role, ideally in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with MRP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAGE 200).
- Qualifications:
- MCIPS qualified or actively pursuing certification.
- Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Attributes:
- Resourceful, detail-oriented, and dependable.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make decisions confidently.
- A collaborative team player who works effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Location:
- Must reside within a 1-hour commute of the office or be willing to relocate.
- Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated experience purchasing in engineering and manufacturing industries, including familiarity with commodities like piping, fittings, steel, and combustion components.
- Accuracy and Efficiency: Proven ability to manage and track multiple procurement processes with attention to detail.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to liaise with internal teams and suppliers, ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Enthusiasm for identifying and implementing process enhancements to improve efficiency and cost savings.
