What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Paraprofessional position at Zeeland Public Schools?
Zeeland Public Schools has an exciting opportunity for a Bus Paraprofessional. The Bus Paraprofessional will assist in the safe transportation of special education students to ensure a safe and hazard free environment for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and comfortable environment for students who ride the bus.
- Monitor and assist students with special needs until released to a teacher, designated school employee, or parent/guardian.
- Ensure that students are seated before the vehicle is in motion. Assist students in refastening seat belts as necessary.
- Observe student behavior and take positive action in correcting behavioral problems.
- Assist in bus emergency evacuation.
- Assist in the proper securement of wheelchairs.
- Assist in proper passenger restraint securement.
- Assist with any medical condition a student may have.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- BA or Associates degree in Educational Assistant and teacher certification preferred; related work experience preferred.
- Must have communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Prior experience working with children.
- Ability to lift 45 pounds.
- Willing to work split hours for AM and PM routes.
Schedule:
School Year
Up to 5 hours per day/5 days a week
Compensation:
Level I - $13.10 - $15.35 per hour
Level II - $14.41 - $16.87 per hour for certified teacher
