What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Night Custodian position at Zeeland Public Schools?
Zeeland Public Schools has a great opportunity for a Lead Night Custodian working at Zeeland East High School. The Lead Night Custodian will supervise and direct the second shift custodial crew to ensure proper cleaning of the school building. S/he will also overlook building security and strive to provide a clean, safe environment of support the educational process. It also requires supervision of the usage of facilities by school, recreation, and community.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize nightly tasks and communicate with employees, staff, and public.
- Direct and monitor full-time and/or part-time custodial staff and evaluate performance.
- Clean all areas as assigned.
- Check all areas for cleanliness to maintain a safe environment for students and staff.
- Maintain cleanliness of personal work areas and storage closets.
- Assist custodial staff with tasks as necessary.
- Assist with set-ups and facility requests for school events or rentals.
- Watch energy consumption; turning off lights and equipment when not in use; reporting items not complying with the energy policy.
- Perform snow removal and salt areas at entrances as needed.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, repairs to furniture and equipment as needed.
- Moving items as needed – furniture, supplies, tables, etc.
- Follow safety procedures and report safety hazards.
- Maintain security in building and secure when leaving for the day/evening.
- Perform work assignments as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college or trade school classes preferred; related work experience necessary.
- Must have good communications and interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with all (students, employees, staff, public, contractors).
- The ability to resolve issues and conflicts that arise.
- The ability to prioritize and address daily activities.
- Must have high standards for cleaning and safety as a priority.
- The ability to view/understand the HVAC computer program.
- The ability to view FMX for facility scheduling and maintenance work orders.
- Ability to do minor maintenance, operate power tools, and needed equipment.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects. Approximately up to 50 pounds.
- Possess good work habits, excellent character, flexibility, and dependability.
- Must be self-directed and task oriented.
- Must be neat in appearance.
- Possess a willingness to learn new job skills and techniques.
Schedule:
40 hours/week
52 weeks/year
2 pm - 10:30 pm Monday - Friday
Compensation:
Level II: $18.34 – $21.44 per hour
