We are looking for a full-time Accounting/Payroll Specialist to join our team. We are a family-owned third generation commercial construction company looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to handle weekly payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly reconciliations and related accounting functions with accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Collect weekly timesheet data and payroll information, review and validate timekeeping records for accuracy and resolve discrepancies, accurately and efficiently use payroll software to calculate wages, overtime, benefits, and deductions, process and administer payments, file tax forms and pay taxes and related payments, and handle certified payroll processes.
- Collect, process and pay subcontractor and supplier invoices in a timely manner. Issue and collect lien waivers as needed.
- Create and issue invoices to clients, track receivables, and ensure that receivables are collected promptly.
- Record cash receipts and bank deposits.
- Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
- Provide information to supervisor in preparation of the company’s financial statements.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system, employee payroll records, including tax documents, direct deposit information, and deductions.
- Handle employment verifications and process new employee paperwork.
- Track employee eligibility for vacation, benefits, and employee certifications.
- Stay informed on payroll-related laws and compliance requirements.
- Assist with bid bond requests and compiling bid submittal forms with accuracy.
- Purchase office supplies and equipment as authorized by supervisor.
- Other general administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
- 2-year degree in Accounting or Business Administration and/or equivalent accounting/payroll processing experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational ability with great attention to detail, accuracy, project and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with others, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability and willingness to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a calm demeanor.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll-related laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to adhere to policies and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information; thorough criminal and financial background checks will be completed.
