Job Summary:
The individual selected for this position will work closely with the customer to address complex scientific problems related to a variety of areas such as physics, chemistry, and the atmospheric sciences. The candidate should have the ability to perform independent research and develop the proper approach/solution to related scientific problems.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to create modeling tools and modify existing tools using common programming languages.
- Develop and interpret scientific codes and algorithms.
- Conduct research on forces, structures and phenomena
- Evaluate experiment results and perform quality control tests
- Develop and analyze the results of models
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Report generation
Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must have a Top-Secret or higher security clearance.
- Must have a PHD degree in Physics and fifteen (15) or more years of relevant experience with a proven record of research in their field of expertise.
- Expertise in Physics related disciplines such as Astrophysics, nuclear and electromagnetic theory, hydrodynamics
- Proficient in creating tools in common programming languages.
- Knowledge of engineering science and technology
- Experience working with the National Labs
- Expert level knowledge of Optical Modeling and associated phenomenology’s
- Familiar with EMP scaling laws
- Expert knowledge of nuclear modeling codes such as HYCHEM and RADFLO.
- Expert knowledge of optical and EMP modeling.
- Analytical thinking skills
- Good writing skills, as there will be a requirement to write reports.
- Degree of judgment and multi-tasking associated with performing job duties.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Effective communicator
- Works well independently or as part of a team
- Successful background and drug screening check.
Preferred Requirements:
- HPC processing relevant to GPU, Parallel, or Tensor design
- Familiar with Astrophysics, nuclear physics, electromagnetic theory, hydrodynamics
- Finite Volume and/or Finite Difference Time Domain expertise.
