Job Title: Technical Trainer – Instrumentation & Controls

Location: Kearny, AZ 85237

Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience

Position Overview:

Are you passionate about mentoring the next generation of technicians in the instrumentation and controls field? We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Technical Trainer to enhance the skills and knowledge of our Control Systems and Instrumentation repair workforce. In this hands-on role, you will work alongside our talented team, demonstrating essential tasks while providing invaluable training on process control systems, instrumentation, and programming. Join us in fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized mentoring and training for the Control Systems and Instrumentation workforce, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and best practices.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures and job task instructions to maintain alignment with industry standards.
  • Develop action plans to improve control systems and instrumentation processes, maximizing reliability and efficiency.
  • Advocate for safety by reinforcing best practices and educating the workforce about the hazards of electrical systems.
  • Instruct and demonstrate:

o Removal, repair, calibration, and installation of Process Control Systems (SCADA & DCS), PLCs, and field instrumentation.

o Preventive/corrective maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and optimization activities.

o Programming and support for DCS, SCADA systems, and PLC-based controls.

o Installation and repair of electrical control systems, including medium voltage systems.

o Conformance checks of prints to company and industry standards.

o Collaboration with other departments and external agencies for instrument data verification and certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in data communications systems, programming PLCs, and managing maintenance work order systems.
  • Significant experience with Rockwell DCS software and Cisco layered switches.
  • Strong leadership abilities and a knack for mentoring others.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills, with a focus on teamwork.
  • Physical stamina to complete tasks in various environmental conditions and lift heavy objects when needed.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with Journeyman certification OR 7 years of related experience with an associate’s degree or trade school certification.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Fluency in English and strong technical communication skills.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
