What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer and Operator position at Zenith Firearms?
The CNC Programmer creates CNC programs and machining instructions. This work often includes reviewing three-dimensional computer-aided/automated design (CAD) models and blueprints, determine cutting tools and machining strategies, and other calculations. The programmer then creates CNC programs utilizing computer aided/automated manufacturing (CAM) software.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently create CNC programs using CamWorks.
- Experience in programming 4, & 5-axis mills, Swiss, and/or mill/turn machines.
- Configure tools and ensure efficient production.
- Identify, design and manufacture fixturing and work holding to effectively process parts through all operations.
- Analyze blueprints to calculate correct part dimensions for tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- Independently set up and operate CNC equipment on first run parts before handing off to production.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot quality and/or process related issues.
- Provide guidance to operators and setup technicians for process related issues.
- Provide cycle time and tooling cost estimates for new products to engineering.
- Communicate recommendations to engineers to modify parts and processes.
- Carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by the supervisor.
Education And/or Experience
- High School or GED Diploma required - associate degree or Certification in related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience with CNC programming with CAM software, and operating CNC equipment.
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, fixtures, and gauges to check work.
- Read Instrumentation and gauges (micro heights, micrometers, calipers, etc) to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machined.
- Must have a proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
- Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and be able to select tooling and machining resources for the manufacture of parts.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Blueprint with GD&T reading capabilities.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
