This role is eligible to participate in Zenith’s hybrid work schedule which provides the flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership. Selected candidate must be able to report into the Woodland Hills, California office on a weekly basis.
A Brief Overview
Human Resources Generalist provides oversight and administration of employee leaves and accommodations. This position ensures compliance with various leave and disability regulations while providing support to employees during their leave of absence. Under general supervision the HR Generalist will also provide consulting services and support to management and employees in multiple functional areas of Human Resources including compensation, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, onboarding, training, and employment law compliance.
What you will do
Leave and Accommodation Management:
- Companywide responsibility for overseeing the administration of employee leaves and accommodations.
- Provide strategic leadership for the Company’s leave of absence and accommodation programs and policies, including analyzing, developing and implementing new or updated policies and/or practices (including potential outsourcing of appropriate administrative tasks).
- Oversee all day-to-day operational aspects of the leave of absence and accommodation policies and programs.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of leave and accommodation regulations and best practices to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, including FMLA, ADA, state FML/PFL, pregnancy disability/accommodation, workers’ compensation, and other relevant regulations to maintain compliance and provide guidance.
- Oversee all leave/accommodation compliance requirements, including ensuring leave and accommodation policies/programs are legally compliant, accurately administered and effectively communicated. Recommend/implement procedures and processes to facilitate compliance. Will consult with legal counsel and internal staff as appropriate.
- Work closely with all levels of management to provide ongoing leave and accommodation support and serve as a leave/accommodation resource for internal partners and in accordance with internal policy or law.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all components of the Company's leave/accommodation policies including continuation of pay and benefits by type of leave, and through stages of a leave (STD, LTD).
- Create and deliver training programs on leave and accommodation compliance topics as appropriate.
- Responsible for management of leave/accommodation service partners/administrators, as applicable.
- Coordinate interactive process meetings and accommodation plans for employees under ADA and Federal Employment and Housing Act regulations.
- Serve as the point of contact for escalated or complex leaves of absence, ADA accommodation, and benefit matters.
- Interpret and provide information to managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits, and ADA.
- Track and report on all leave benefits costs, including fixed costs, claims, and contributions.
- Oversee and reconcile HRIS leave data against external LOA Administrator, Payroll, and Employee Health leave data and update HR records as necessary.
- Ensure exceptional customer service to employees by addressing their leave and accommodation related inquiries and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Provide leadership to, and manage activities of, the Benefits and Leave Coordinator.
Human Resources Generalist Duties:
- Work as strategic partner to business leaders by understanding Zenith’s vision, strategies, plans, organizational structure, culture, operating policies, practices, and business processes.
- Provide guidance and recommendations that will help to meet business goals while supporting all applicable employment laws and Zenith’s values and success factors.
- Consult with and advise managers to ensure the appropriate handling of disciplinary actions, involuntary terminations, job eliminations/layoffs and reorganizations are within legal and corporate guidelines.
- Build, maintain, and leverage strong effective working relationships throughout Zenith.
- Assist with recruiting candidates for technical, professional, and managerial positions.
- Respond to management and employee inquiries regarding the handling of specific human resource issues according to company policy.
- Counsel and, when necessary, provide referrals to employees for help with personnel and work-related problems. Such problems include, but are not limited to, harassment, discrimination, outplacement, domestic and childcare issues, substance abuse, acts of violence and company theft.
- Interprets and explains Company benefit programs to employees.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather relevant information regarding the issues and concerns of the employee population.
- Manage medium to large complex projects related to HR.
- Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Work productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis.
- Respond positively to direction and feedback on performance.
- Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field required
Experience Qualifications
- 7 Years experience in HR with a focus on leave administration and benefits required
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, USERRA, Workers Compensation, and other relevant regulations.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws in US
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze metrics and make data-driven recommendations.
The expected salary range for this position is $106,354.60 to $132,943.26. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
