We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the Galaxy Systems workstream within the NYC Department of Education's Division of Information and Instructional Technology (DIIT). This role will focus on requirements gathering, documentation, gap analysis, and stakeholder communication for key system modernization and financial process automation initiatives.
The Business Analyst will collaborate closely with stakeholders and technical teams to define and validate functional specifications. They will be responsible for translating complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements for developers and QA teams, while ensuring alignment with project goals. This individual will also participate in sprint planning sessions and play a key role in delivering enhancements to Galaxy's budgeting, nomination, and HR-related processes.
Responsibilities
Gather and document detailed business and technical requirements
Conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for process improvement
Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to validate requirements and obtain sign-off
Collaborate with development and QA teams to translate requirements into functional specifications
Support sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions
Track progress of deliverables and communicate status to stakeholders
Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) and troubleshooting issues as needed
Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with project goals
Qualifications
Experience: 8 years as a Business Analyst in large-scale IT projects
Technical Skills
Additional Requirements
All consultants must pass DOE fingerprinting and receive clearance through the PETS system
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Familiarity with Agile methodology is a plus
Education
Bachelors Degree in related field
