General Purpose: As a Labor and Employment Associate, you will be responsible for performing a variety of legal tasks, including conducting legal research, managing discovery processes, drafting legal documents, attending hearings, participating in depositions, and drafting responses to EEOC and MDCR charges. You will support partner-level litigation attorneys throughout all phases of employment-related litigation and traditional labor matters.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive and high-quality legal research
- Assist with all aspects of discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, preparing initial disclosures, and witness preparation
- Prepare legal briefs and other pleadings
- Collaborate with partner-level attorneys to determine the necessary documents and information for production, the method of production, and the selection of vendors
- Draft responses to EEOC and MDCR charges
- Handle various facets of employment-related litigation, such as motion hearings, mediations, and depositions
- Prepare trial materials
- Attend and assist in pretrial, trial, and post-trial proceedings
Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in employment-related litigation and client counseling
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience in managing discovery processes
- Experience in taking and defending depositions
- Proficient in using online legal research services and legal resources available on the internet, including Westlaw
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in traditional labor matters is a plus
Education and Licensing:
- Graduate of an accredited law school
- Admitted to the Michigan State Bar or eligible for prompt admission

Pay: $145,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
