General Summary:

This individual is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and managing day-to-day operations related to client care and program management in a SUD outpatient setting. This includes working closely with justice-involved individuals, service providers, and other stakeholders in the community to promote recovery-oriented outcomes. This individual will oversee payroll, federal program monitoring, direct employee supervision, scheduling, conduct patient assessments, treatment planning, counseling, case management, and educational presentations. A high level of professionalism, flexibility, and clinical expertise is essential for this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll, Employee Supervision, and Scheduling:

  • Manage payroll activities for staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Directly administratively supervise employees, providing clinical guidance, feedback, and support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with organizational policies.

Treatment Services

  • Provide evidence-based individual therapy using modalities like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Lead and facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery support.
  • Monitor and assist outpatient staff with conducting case management, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, family support and other needed services assisting when needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM LOC evaluations for clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team.

Crisis Intervention and Support:

  • Offer crisis intervention and emotional support to clients in acute distress or setbacks in their recovery.
  • Help clients develop healthy coping strategies to manage stress and cravings.
  • Provide guidance on safety planning, de-escalation techniques, and community resource coordination for clients

Progress Monitoring and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Regularly assess and document client progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
  • Review staff documentation to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Conduct monthly audits on federal client charts to ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Review monthly accountability logs and reports per the federal statement of work 

Professional Development:

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in addiction treatment, therapeutic techniques, and best practices.
  • Support clinicians in strengthening their therapeutic skills, clinical judgment, and knowledge of best practices in SUD treatment. 
  • Facilitate team meetings to foster collaboration and commitment to continuous improvement. 

Collaboration and Community Partnerships:

  • Act as liaison between the criminal justice system, substance use treatment providers, mental health agencies, and other community-based organizations
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication across agencies to promote integrated and trauma-informed approaches

Coordinator Responsibilities

Clinical Supervision:

  • Oversee case consultations, review ASAM and treatment plan compliance to ensure they are evidence-based and effective
  • Address and support complex clinical cases, offering guidance on interventions, risk management, and ethical decision-making.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Assist with training new staff and ensure adherence to program/agency protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor staff's documentation accuracy and timeliness, providing guidance during shifts to meet client needs effectively.

Program Development and Management:

  • Evaluate program effectiveness by analyzing outcomes, identifying areas for improvement, and making necessary adjustments to meet client needs.
  • Participate in training and consultations with other departments, focusing on clinical topics such as ASAM LOC placement for appropriate client services.
  • Coordination of SUD programs and interventions within the criminal justice system, including court-based interventions and reentry programs
  • Identify gaps in services and collaborate with stakeholders to expand resources and support within the community

  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Develop skills to manage and resolve conflicts that may arise in group settings or during individual interactions.

Knowledge of Addiction and Recovery:

  • Possess a strong understanding of the disease of addiction, the recovery process, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Familiarity with local recovery community and groups (e.g., AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery, Al-Anon etc.)

Therapeutic Activities

  • Assist in group therapy sessions, contributing to the creation of a therapeutic and safe environment.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs and goals.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes.
  • Documentation of records within agency EHR clearly, concise, and in compliance with all local/state/federal laws and standards of confidentiality.

  • Adhere to a strict code of ethics, maintaining boundaries and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Always maintain confidentiality according to applicable laws and agency policy 
  • Evidenced Based Practice
  • Learn and utilize appropriate therapeutic modalities to engage clients in evidenced based practice such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change and understanding the ASAM Levels of Care

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing, bending, and moving. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Environmental Conditions

  • Could include Air-conditioned and/or heated office setting, time spent “in the field”, which could involve driving to residences, schools, doctor’s offices, and various locations in the community.  
  • Could also include transporting patients to and from appointments.

Position Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required 
  • LPC, LSW required
  • Must have 2 years of work experience providing psychotherapy.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working with clients in the criminal justice system


Those eligible to drive company vehicles must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage as defined by the agency commercial insurance carrier. Those who drive personal vehicles during business must be able to provide proof of insurance.
