What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Engineer position at Zeppelin Systems USA?
The Chemical Plants Application Engineer is responsible for generating technical proposals and assisting the team in achieving the sales goals of Zeppelin’s product line of pneumatic conveying, liquid conveying, dust collection, mixers, controls, and weighing & feeding systems to new and existing clients in the rubber, plastics, and chemicals industry.
Duties include:
· Review customer requirements and specifications with the responsible sales manager and client
· Communicate with the client and all project related parties to collect the required data to generate a quotation.
· Assist in developing a process design that fits the needs of the end user and select the appropriate equipment.
· Generate proposals including process flow diagrams, cost estimates and descriptive text.
· Solicit quotations from vendors for specialty equipment to support the proposal cost estimate.
· Participate in the generation of presentation documents and presentations to customers.
· Manage the quotation, order, and customer databases.
· Maintain and augment the cost estimating database.
· Aid in developing, preparing, and managing sales forecasts and quotation logs.
· Manage customer satisfaction throughout and after the sales process.
· Develop an expert understanding of plastics, rubber, and chemical processing.
· Travel as required to support the selling effort.
Experience/Skills:
· Strong problem solving skills.
· Commensurate process and technical knowledge of rubber and plastics processing and compounding and their associated equipment scopes
· Experience in the plastics or rubber processing industry a plus
· Ability and willingness to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to understand business correspondence.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Thrive in a team environment and develop positive working relationships with others.
Educational/Training/Residency Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering is strongly recommended or 5 years’ experience in bulk material handling or in estimating complex technical proposals.
· Microsoft Office proficiency required. AutoCAD and SAP a plus.
