Our client, a growing global law firm specializing in insurance coverage/defense law, seeks a full-time Calendar Clerk to join their Los Angeles office. Duties primarily include support of legal assistants with calendaring using Westlaw Edge and Trellis alerts, and secondarily office tasks and special projects as assigned to the local Facilities Team. While this role will sit in our Los Angeles office, it will also support our San Francisco and Seattle offices as well.
The annualized salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000; however, actual salary is contingent upon level of experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Job Requirements:
- Manage and review court notices and enter schedules or deadlines into the calendar
- Proficiency in tracking court dates using Westlaw Edge and Trellis alerts
- Heavy communication with the courts and adversaries to confirm appearances
- Coordinate appearances with attorneys, schedule depositions, meetings and mediations
- Advanced knowledge of depositions, motions, court and/or judges’ rules and how to locate them on court websites
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to court dates, adjournments, and other calendar-related matters
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and litigation processes
- Enter matter data in docketing software database
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- 3 to 5 years of experience
- Proven experience as a calendar clerk, litigation secretary, or in a similar role within a law firm
- Practical knowledge of the local rules regarding deadlines for county - level Superior Courts in Washington
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent client services and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and concisely
- Proactive and anticipatory
- Ability to think clearly and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of BEC CoreRelate preferred
