Summary:

The Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) will work in cooperation with other behavioral health and peer recovery support professionals in Columbia County to engage individuals in recovery support services. The CRPS will serve as a role model, mentor, and advocate for individuals with substance use disorder. The goal of the CRPS is to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The CRPS must have the ability to share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships with program participants. The CRPS must possess an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist
  • The CRPS must have lived experience with recovery and a minimum of two years recovery history.
  • Must be able to pass a Level II Background Screening
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation

This position is based in Columbia County with the expectation that the CRPS will meet with program participants at locations in surrounding communities as needed. The CRPS must be able to work independently and work in partnership with healthcare agencies, substance use and mental health providers, jails, drug court programs, and other partner agencies. Essential Duties:

  • Provide peer recovery support, peer recovery coaching and encouragement to program participants contemplating or seeking recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Engage in relationship building, active listening, support in a non-judgmental way.
  • Adhere to the Florida Certification Board code of ethics, standards of practice, and Zero Hour Life Center policies and procedures.

Daily Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide recovery education to program participants through each phase of the recovery journey.
  • Identify crisis situations, facilitate access to appropriate resources, connect program participants with resources, and assist with navigating the systems.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of program participant’s individualized recovery plan, recognizing multiple pathways to recovery, accessing, and advocating for recovery and community resources. The goal should be to transition from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and community resources to provide effective recovery support services to program participants.
  • Identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff, and other community stakeholders.
  • Assist the program participant to identify and prioritize strengths and needs, using recovery capital assessments and other recovery techniques that engage individuals to self-disclose.
  • Maintain progress notes, reports, and accurate, timely records in appropriate files and database(s), adhering to recovery program standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information received during the facilitation of recovery support services – maintain current understanding of federal, state, and local confidentiality rules and regulations.
  • Engage in continuing professional development relative to recovery support services, applying practical and professional knowledge and experience. Maintain CRSS credential.
  • Other duties as directed by Chief Executive Officer and/or Management Staff.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

Pay: $31,200 annual

Schedule: Monday - Friday, some weekends, some flexibility
