Our company is structured across 2 divisions – the Display Case Division, located in North Prairie, WI, Waukesha, WI, and Mukwonago, WI and the Refrigeration Systems Division, located in Ramsey, MN and Dyersville, IA.

What Will You Do?

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Refrigeration Engineer will work independently or in conjunction with a team of cross-functional professionals to develop new product concepts, display case product extensions and exploring innovative technical solutions for commercial refrigerated merchandising solutions.  This individual will also assist with issue resolution of specific issues related to the performance of existing products that pertain to refrigeration or other technical hurdle as deemed essential for the business. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical professional with innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Identify technical resource requirements, training of existing and new team members, collaborative input of design concepts, data analysis, business trends, review reports, schedules and designs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Provide technical direction, product platforms that are future-proofed for upcoming refrigerants, system designs, motor advancements and control schemes.
  • Act as the technical liaison for design reviews, design validation, issue resolution, etc.
  • Foster a mindset of continuous improvement and developing strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Technical competency to properly select metering valves, flow control valves, piping, selection and sizing of fin-tube evaporator coils, fans, blowers, and other forced-air convection components.
  • Working knowledge of the applicable regulatory standards, synthetic and natural refrigerants (R744, R290)
  • Active participation in new product development, change and enhancements.  Strong understanding of frost and defrost management associated with evaporator coils and display merchandisers.
  • Skilled at interpretation of test results and report writing (DVP&R), test plans (DVP), design documentation, bill of materials (BOM) and comprehensive understanding total cost of ownership.
  • Assist Sourcing with vendor and capability migration efforts to help mitigate issues.
  • Working knowledge of A3, DFx, DFMEA and PPAP processes.
  • Work closely with product Marketing, Design Engineering, Service, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering dept’s to assure that solutions put forth are done so with best practices and the highest probability of success.
  • Work with the Eng. Test Lab and actively participate in design of experiments, reporting and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a minimum experience of 5 years in a related product field. 
  • Must demonstrate experience and possess skills in mathematics, mechanical sciences, problem solving, project management, research study and good written and oral communication skills.

SKILLS / ABILITIES / SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Literacy in any of the following computer packages; MS Word, MS Excel, SolidWorks, LabView, SolidWorks, FlowWorks, CoilDesigner, Fluent, FIDAP, ANSYS software.

 

PHYSICAL & BEHAVIORAL:

  • Frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Requires the use of safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes in production areas
