Position Overview:
The Assistant Foodservice Director is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the foodservice department at a Jewish healthcare facility. This role involves assisting with food preparation, staff supervision, menu planning, and ensuring compliance with dietary guidelines, including kosher regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of foodservice management in a healthcare setting and demonstrate leadership skills in a culturally and spiritually sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support: Assist the Foodservice Director in managing daily foodservice operations to ensure efficient and high-quality service to residents, staff, and guests.
- Kosher Compliance: Ensure all food preparation and service meet the facility's kosher dietary standards and Jewish religious practices.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate in the development and planning of menus that align with residents' nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, and cultural preferences.
- Supervision & Training: Supervise foodservice staff, including cooks, dietary aides, and dishwashers. Assist in training staff in kosher food handling, safety regulations, and customer service.
- Inventory & Ordering: Assist with inventory management and ordering of food and supplies, ensuring that all ingredients meet Kosher certification and dietary needs.
- Quality Control: Monitor the preparation, presentation, and serving of food to ensure it meets quality standards, temperature requirements, and safety regulations.
- Resident Interaction: Engage with residents to ensure their dietary needs and preferences are being met, especially those requiring special diets.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Assist in managing the food service department's budget, controlling food and labor costs, and identifying areas for cost savings while maintaining high standards.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the foodservice operation adheres to all local, state, and federal food safety regulations, including HACCP protocols, and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in Foodservice Management, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5years of experience in foodservice management, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
Knowledge of kosher food practices is essential.
