Catering Chef

Zesty Gourmet, a premier full-service catering company serving Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, is seeking skilled and passionate Cooks to join our team as independent contractors (1099 employment). We specialize in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for weddings, corporate events, galas, and private gatherings.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrées, and desserts, following recipes and menu specifications.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Assist with food preparation, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meats, and preparing sauces.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food storage areas.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation procedures.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Cook in catering, restaurants, or a similar culinary setting.
• Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Valid food handler’s permit (must be obtained prior to working events).
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high culinary standards.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel to different event locations.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Job Type: Contract
