ABOUT THE ROLE:
We’re seeking a skilled Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our public safety solutions suite. In this role, you’ll design and implement scalable microservices, build responsive web interfaces, and ensure reliable inter-service communication using message queuing technologies. You’ll manage application deployments as containers in container orchestration environments, advocate for secure coding practices, participate in code reviews, debug complex software issues, and maintain clear documentation while collaborating with global teams.
*This role is a hybrid position. You must be able to commute to our Knoxville Office.*
WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER?
- Backend Development: Design and implement scalable, efficient, and secure microservices.
- Frontend Development: Build responsive, user-friendly web-based user interfaces.
- Message Queuing: Integrate and maintain systems using message queuing technologies to ensure reliable communication between services.
- Deployment & Orchestration: Deploy and manage applications as containers in container orchestration environments.
- Secure Coding Practices: Advocate for and implement secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities.
- Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews to ensure internal code quality.
- Debugging & Diagnostics: Analyze, debug, and resolve complex software issues, and effectively communicate findings and solutions to team members.
- Documentation & Communication: Produce clear and concise documentation and collaborate effectively with team members across the globe.

AS A KEY MEMBER OF THE TEAM YOU MUST BE ABLE TO:
- Ability to understand complex requirements and translate them to high quality code.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) and database design.
- Experience building frontend applications with Blazor and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with message queuing providers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure ServiceBus.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and container orchestration.
- In-depth knowledge of secure coding practices and application security.
- Strong background in unit testing and related tools/frameworks such as xUnit.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Azure DevOps.
- Experience in agile software development processes.
- A strong passion for solving customer issues and delivering solutions that enhance user satisfaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a geo-diverse, multicultural team environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to learning.
- Must be able to work remotely

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The following list of requirements are considered the minimum levels of education and experience necessary to perform this job successfully. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is acceptable.
- Candidates with experience in GIS frameworks such as ESRI ArcGIS are strongly preferred.
- Experience in a mission-critical communications, public safety, or an adjacent field is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft desktop UI frameworks (WinForms, WPF, MAUI) as well as Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) and database design.
- Strong proficiency in .NET, C# and ASP.NET Core for backend development.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, AWS, or Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure ServiceBus.
- 3 years in a similar role or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent expertise.
