Job Description
The Department of Social Services (DSS), Division of Child Protection Services is seeking a skilled individual to provide consultation and coaching to support the newly implemented Initial Family Assessment (IFA) and Protective Capacity Assessment (PCA) curricula.
5 years of proven experience in curriculum development, training, and implementation, with a focus on adult learning and capacity-building.
Bachelor s degree in social work, Education, Public Administration, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
Advanced Degree (Master s) in a relevant field is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey
complex information.
Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) or similar certification is highly
preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification is a strong plus.
Demonstrated success in collaborating with and influencing all levels of management
and staff.
Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to engage diverse
audiences.
Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies, including
experience managing large-scale training initiatives.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt training approaches based
on data and feedback.
Proficiency in training platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and related
technologies to support remote and in-person training sessions.
Ability to work across multiple locations throughout South Dakota with flexibility and
adaptability to manage simultaneous projects in dynamic environments.

To provide a combination of virtual and in-person coaching and consultation to IFA and PCA Supervisors to increase competency, effectiveness, and efficiency. Coaching will be provided to support the child protection supervisory workforce by reinforcing proficiency with the agency practice model, and supporting professional development so supervisors are more effective in their roles. In addition, to provide up to six select staff on how to deliver coaching in the future.
A. Mobilization Meet with Child Protection Supervisors, RM s and Executive Team. Conduct/finalize project planning and develop a formal work plan.
B. Implementation Implement an ongoing coaching plan, with focus on fidelity in decision making and practice within South Dakota s Comprehensive Safety Intervention model.
C. Outcome Achievement and Sustainability Gather and utilize feedback to make necessary adjustments to the implementation/coaching plans, ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness.
