What are the responsibilities and job description for the Change Control / Validation Engineer II position at ZF Group?
Our team of skilled change control engineers is dedicated to ensuring seamless change management across all plant departments. We are responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and validating engineering change orders, while leading cross-functional teams to implement these changes effectively. Working closely with various plant personnel, from assembly staff to senior management, we facilitate the smooth introduction of engineering changes into production. By maintaining a detailed change information database and providing technical support, we ensure that changes are executed accurately and on time, while consistently monitoring and reporting progress throughout the process.
What you can look forward to as a Change Control Engineer- Perform daily reviews/analyses and validation of engineering change orders and deviations, create workflow/change control documentation as necessary to improve change management processes.
- Lead cross-functional change management/change implementation teams across all plant departments.
- Work with affected departments to resolve issues that prevent change implementation, providing detailed technical explanations surrounding the change process and/or working with design teams to create additional technical documentation/basis for the change.
- Control the change process via supervisors/managers over the change information database.
- Work with all levels of plant personnel from assembly staff to senior management to ensure required changes are effectively introduced into production at the appropriate time.
- Monitor engineering change request from initial requests through release in order to facilitate the change implementation process.
- Assess deviations from initial requests to confirmation of closure, verifying status in production departments.
- Analyze data and develop methods for reporting change information. Prepare regular and accurate reports for determining the status of engineering changes.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering or related field
- 3-4 years of experience in engineering design in a product development and/or manufacturing environment with strong product knowledge and the ability to train others. Preferred experience in Automotive industry
- Knowledge of IATF – 16949, and preferably 5S and Six Sigma problem-solving methodology
- Working knowledge of calculation methods (i.e. FE – analysis, tolerance, calculations, analytical calculations, etc.).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, SAP, and Axalant
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.
- Preferred 2 years of project management and/or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred familiarity with plant operations, including machining, assembly, and heat treatment
