The Sr. Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing the logistics project activities by ensuring successful progression of both internal and external customer milestones. During the launch projects, the Senior Supply Chain Specialist acts as the team lead. The Position is responsible for pre-series parts supply and pre-series transmission deliveries to the customer while managing many cross functions within the whole logistics department, and they're also responsible for phase out projects which focuses mainly to avoid obsolescence of purchase parts and transmissions as well as working on quoting projects for potential customers, calculating the logistics costs, preparing presentations for management.
What you can look forward to as the Senior Supply Chain Specialist
Lead interdepartmental activities with management to define the project class and scope of project and resources needed.
Manage, review, and ensure maintenance of New Parts List or comparable project task list by product for all relevant topics.
Act as Team Lead, working with ZF teams (launch management, logistics, purchasing, quality and sales) and global SCM, in order to support business development, capacity, and continuity.
Ensure material availability to support the ZFTG production schedule, independent orders for pre-series, bank builds, etc. by reviewing stock levels, vendor performance and production schedule to avoid potential shortfalls and report status reviews for all build phases.
Lead projects and processes to continuously improve the material and information flow.
Lead phase out programs to avoid obsolescence of transmissions and parts, by leading and conducting weekly phase-out meetings with all departments affected as needed.
Lead project teams to identify the root cause, take lessons learned, develop future counter measures and prepare claims for customer and supplier discussions in case of unavoidable obsolescence.
Develop with ZF Engineering teams space requirements for parts storage in the warehouse, at line & at point of use, including dimensioning of necessary buffer areas, warehouse optimization and repacking area needs.
Develop reports, charts, graphs, and summarize data and key performance indicators to support managerial decision-making processes and gate reviews to the customer (including corrective actions if necessary).
Develop and manage implementation of Supply Chain Design for purchased parts from new suppliers and transmissions for new customers.
Act as primary contact/liaison to customer, identify information/data and resources needed by customer and ensure timely transfer of such information to appropriate ZF department/team and the customer.
Lead project team meetings regularly in conjunction with core team, support staff, and managers, and discuss updates on assigned tasks and project targets and milestones.
Lead Logistics cost estimations for supply chains, BOM and/or supplier change requests for new and potential customers, prepare presentations with arguments for customer negotiations.
Maintain appropriate SAP and Axalant data as needed in projects and lead problem solving, corrective action development activities in case of issues with the BOM/material setup.
Act as customer to packaging engineering for developing packaging solutions for production line, transportation and warehouse storage and calculate overall logistics impact.
Lead in developing procedures and work instructions for all logistics department functions as needed.
Understand and comply with TS 16949 and ISO 14000 requirements.
Lead in other duties as it relates to this position.
Your profile as the Senior Supply Chain Specialist
Bachelor’s degree
6+ years progressive experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel).
Proven problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
In-depth knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within logistics
Extensive experience with interpreting and manipulating large amounts of supply chain data
Extensive experience with logistics contract management and in-depth knowledge of specialized methods and techniques
Experience with an ERP system
Can manage and resolve a wide range of complex problems using problem solving tools
Demonstrate 100% commitment and support in all situations including out-of-hours assignments necessary to meet tight project deadlines
Project Management skills, ability to develop and monitor timing plans and master schedule
Demonstrate effective time management and prioritizing skills
Ability to travel required – both foreign and domestic.
