Job Description
What you can look forward to as a Field Service Technician:
- Perform repair/replacement of ZF transmissions, auxiliary & driveline components at ZF or at customer's site
- Remanufacture & installation of ZF transmissions, auxiliary & driveline components
- Interact with end-customer fleets to install ZF products, train drivers, get vehicle performance data, and address topics that arise
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis, ensure completion of all 8-Ds for testing-development issues
- Give effective presentations to critical/high-level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
- Diagnose vehicles in the field, document field test plans and publish test reports with all necessary backup material
- Prepare work instructions for all aspects of Engineering Test Trucks & Transmission evaluation
- Provide technical support to Service, Procurement, Sales and Marketing Organizations, OEMs, and vendors
- Estimate, track, and complete projects on time and within budget
- Responsible for DOT safety sensitive product on ZF's Fleet vehicles
- Monitor ZF and Customer's Customer Fleet Trucks
- May perform product training to customers or team members
- Communicates with customers in the field
Your Profile as a Field Service Technician:
- High School diploma (associate's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial vehicle and/or heavy equipment experience; heavy industrial mechanic or bus transmission mechanic experience is ideal
- Heavy mechanical background and travel experience
- Strong verbal/written communication and computer skills
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a CDL and High Voltage Certification
- Must have valid Driver’s License
