About the Team
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team at the ZF Lafayette facility. At the ZF Lafayette facility, the Quality Engineering team assists in the production of automotive components for the commercial vehicle market including products such as steering columns and pitman arms. An engineer in this role will be responsible for ensuring production in their responsible area is continuously improved. The engineer responsible will be responsible for all quality items related to the production unit assigned including APQP, corrective action, CIS projects and day to day quality activities. Communication throughout all levels of the plant, critical thinking, problem solving, and the right technical skills will be vital to success in this role.
What you can look forward to as a Quality Engineer
- Maintain and improve Quality Management systems consistent with IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements by improving existing processes, implementing new/improved equipment as well as gauging and maintaining existing production quality control systems.
- Assist in creating and maintaining control plans, in-process checks/inspections, for product lines and pFMEA inputs.
- Monitor and develop reporting information based on comparative analysis that will aid problem resolution for the following areas: customer rejected/returned material, warranty, scrap and first line reject rates.
- Interface with customer at all levels of the organization on all related quality issues, including onsite visits and lead Customer Corrective Actions.
- Participate/manage APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and other automotive quality management tools and processes.
What your profile as Quality Engineer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).
- 3 years of experience in a quality field (experience in a manufacturing setting preferred).
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with gauges, machine acquisitions and process improvement preferred.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) a plus.
- Knowledge of IATF Auditing/Certification a plus.
