Main Purpose of the Role:
Implement and oversee ZIM’s repair policy and performance throughout the CCA District ports and vendors in depots. Monitor M&R activity throughout the District; ensuring cost control, approval of estimates to authorized limits, and the proper use of ZIM’s M&R data system and applying ZIM’s Code of Practice to maximize the collection of 3rd party damages.

Main Purpose of the Role:

Main Tasks:
- Provide guidance and coaching to District staff on M&R matters through weekly team meetings and one-on-one mentoring.
- Communicate, implement, and monitor District goals/targets in line with company business/financial objectives.
- Monitor and ensure cost saving goals/targets are realistic and achievable.
- Represents the company in matters involving local litigation as required.
- Ensure we hire, train, and retain the best people possible. Take corrective action where needed.
- Manage day to day staff activities in accordance with Company, Union or local regulations.
- Create and sustain open communication that supports staff efficiency.
- Strategically plan the utilization of the District manpower in support of organizational goals and responsibilities.
- Provide direction to staff through shared knowledge of terminal & depot processes.
- Provide guidance and explanation of ZIM repair policies. Ensure these policies are understood and followed precisely by staff & vendors.
- Conduct weekly discussions with staff involving current trends and equipment use.
- Monitor KPI’s & provide feedback.
- Review in service repair estimates, and revise or approve as required.
- Control 3rd Party billing processes via ZIM’s Code of Practice. Maximize invoicing and collections.
- Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying and rectifying service shortfalls before they adversely affect the customer, wherever possible.
- Weekly interaction with agency operators.
- Conduct audits to ensure ZIM’s repair policies are being followed.
- Request and review local vendor contracts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of industry standards “IICL” International Institute of Container Lessors regarding container, chassis, reefer and genset repair methodology. Knowledge of acceptable industry repair task time tariffs and part prices
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office
- Experience in marine and/or terminal operations, customer service and logistics (equipment control, intermodal and M&R) preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: strong technical background with knowledge of best industry M&R practices, standards and conventions, including but not limited to IICL, UIIA and AAR.
