What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Chef position at Zim's Cafe?
Objective of Catering Chef:
The Event Chef will assist management in the kitchen, follow and enforce the Culinary Director's requirements and guidelines. Creative and professional, the Event Chef must be willing to participate in creating seasonal menus, and special menus and guarantee a quality output from the kitchen and culinary team. Duties include recruiting new employees, and developing new menu options, running service during events of various sizes. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with in-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes.
Event Chef Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a hospitality mindset at all times

- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to adhere to and enforce restaurant best practices and policies
- Assist Head Chef with the preparation and planning of meal designs
- Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner
- Resolve customer problems and concerns personally
- Monitor and record inventory
- Keep track of receiving orders and placing orders when needed
- Provide support to all other cooks with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
- Recruit and train new cooks and kitchen employees to meet company standards
- Create weekly schedule for kitchen employees
- Help Track and report purchases each week for the Prime Cost Dashboard
- Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations.
- Manage the kitchen team in the head chef's absence
- Transporting food to and from venues
Event Chef Job Requirements:
- Excellent cooking and food preparation skills
- Catering experience is a plus
- A certificate in culinary arts is a plus
- Good food decorating skills
- Great attention to detail
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- A friendly and positive attitude
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Fayette County food manager's card
