JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of engineering management, the Engineering Intern will provide engineering and technical support for various engineering programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Provide technical support and services in engineering fields such as design, development, maintenance and testing.
- Assist in research and review of engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) defining aircraft structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of modification or alteration.
- Exposure to the development of preliminary engineering analysis necessary to substantiate aircraft modifications.
- Work on assigned projects to assist Engineers with areas of concentration.
- Interface with other ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions departments to ensure customer & ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions requirements are met.
- Support other Engineering groups as workload requirements dictate.
- Develop expertise on internal ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions policies and procedures
- Must participate on existing cross functional focus teams, process teams and assist in the implementation of engineering objectives.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
Perform other duties as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Accountable to Engineering Manager.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
- Major must be in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering or Engineering/Manufacturing Technology.
- Two years of college coursework towards bachelor’s degree must be completed.
- Must possess demonstrable proficiency with personal computer systems with Microsoft Office.
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work under pressure with a minimum level of supervision.
- Must possess good oral, written, and organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e. climbing stairs, on work stands, man lifts, etc.) and in confined areas (i.e. cargo compartments, fuel tanks, E/E bays, etc.).
- Must also be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
