Job Description
Zimmerman Metals, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and energetic Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate will have a dedication to the quality of the work, a dedication to a team atmosphere, and a background in an industrial facility. The maintenance technician is responsible for keeping the facility operating, repairing any problems when they are discovered or scheduling the appropriate service, and maintaining the PM schedule for equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance to a wide variety of mechanical equipment
- Perform routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage (eg: windows, doors, overhead doors, or wall repairs)
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
- Diagnose electrical issues on equipment such as worn-out contacts, limit switches, or faulty control valves
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems
- Occasionally working overtime in the event of equipment failure
- Maintain and repair overhead cranes
- Schedule repairs when needed
- Set up and responsible for PM schedule for shop equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Machine knowledge
- Mechanical aptitude
- Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, and other drainage problems
- Electrical experience, low voltage, 240 and 480 including lockout tagout procedures
- Basic understanding of overhead crane repair and maintenance
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees
- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on multiple projects in a 150,000 sqft facility
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and able to work in Excel spreadsheets
- Must have own tools
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel materials.
- Frequently required to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous materials in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
- The position operates in a manufacturing or warehouse setting with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- May involve exposure to dust, dirt, and noise from machinery.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
