What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Estimator position at Zimmerman Metals?
Our established manufacturing firm is growing its clientele, and we have an excellent opportunity for an entry-level Estimator to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in structural steel and/or estimating for construction or industrial projects. This candidate must be organized, motivated, detail-oriented and driven. We are offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with an outstanding benefits package.
Estimator responsibilities and duties:
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates
- Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects
- Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and quotes
- Ensure timely completion of estimates
- Understand scope of work to bid and contractual requirements
- Manage bid pricing from all vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare cost analysis
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Other duties as assigned
Estimator skills
- 0-2 years' experience in structural/miscellaneous steel or construction estimating
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Applied Science, Civil Engineering or related field
- Able to read and understand construction documents and engineering information and develop cost estimates
- Strong understanding of construction processes and techniques
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Proficient in estimating systems, software, and methodology
- Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Impeccable problem-solving skill
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
