The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. This role involves managing EHS programs, conducting risk assessments, training employees, and driving continuous improvements in environmental and safety practices. This role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, industry standards, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of electrical safety and a proactive approach to risk management and incident prevention. This position reports to the Director of EHS and will work onsite at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon.
EHS Specialist Job Duties :
- Help develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Drive the adoption of safety best practices and promote a Zero Harm safety culture across the organization
- Maintain safety awareness training programs, ensuring that all employees understand EHS protocols and compliance requirements
- Stay current on regulatory changes, ensuring the company remains compliant with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Advise management on regulatory requirements, ensure the timely submission of EHS-related permits, reports, documentation, and track findings
- Perform risk assessments and hazard evaluations to identify potential workplace hazards and recommend mitigation strategies
- Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining various safety manuals, procedures, training materials, reports, and other technical documents related to workplace health and safety
- Lead investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental incidents using root cause analysis techniques
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure continuous improvement of safety programs
- Report findings appropriately post investigation
- Conduct safety training programs for new hires and ongoing employee education to enhance safety awareness and regulatory compliance
- Promote safety communication through regular meetings, training sessions, and safety campaigns to engage all employees in EHS initiatives
- Participate in Safety Committee Meetings
- Conduct regular EHS audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance with established safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide management with regular reports, performance metrics, and recommendations based on safety audits and incident trends.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including fire, spill, and evacuation procedures
- Lead emergency drills to ensure all employees are prepared and know how to respond in the event of an emergency
- Collaborate on environmental sustainability initiatives, focusing on waste reduction, energy conservation, and meeting key performance indicators
- Support the company’s efforts to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) certifications
