Zing! for Kids is currently looking for a ROCKSTAR Fitness Instructor to join our Long Island Team.
In this role, you will teach FUN, INCLUSIVE & ENERGETIC movement & fitness classes to children of ALL abilities and should have experience with preschool, elementary age & special needs children (we can train you if you’re open to it, as well!). During the school year, most of our programs run on select weekday afternoons (12:30-5PM) in Nassau County (Roslyn/Port Washington Area) with several weekend programs (Nassau/Suffolk) from 10AM-4PM. During the summer, we partner with camps to run weekly classes & special events, typically from 8:30AM-3:30PM on weekdays. If you think you’d rock this job, check out the details & qualifications:
ABOUT YOU:
- Have a passion for fitness & helping children to feel their best!
- Have taught/worked with kids (3-12 yrs) for at least two years, open to working with the 2’s/have experience here
- Have worked with children with special needs/open to it
- Have experience as a certified group exercise instructor, personal trainer or something similar (i.e. movement coach, dance teacher, PE educator, etc.)
- You radiate positive energy! You bring the FUN, BIG ENERGY wherever you go

- Can manage multiple things happening at once and command a classroom

Zing! is looking to bring on a new Zing! Fit Instructor to the Long Island region. Our sites are located across New York City, Westchester and Long Island. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside the Founder, learn how to teach fitness to kids, employ the signature Zing! methodology, and lead your own classes. Additionally, there are plenty of areas for growth within the company. Pay is based on scope of work, location, and experience, ranging from $35-48/hour with several day rates for full day offerings, which will be explained in the interview process.

What You’ll Do:
- Go through the Zing! Instructor training led by the Zing! For Kids Founder and the Founding Instructor Team
- Teach weekly classes to children (primarily 2.5-11) at schools, community centers, camps, events, parks, etc. During the school year, we require at LEAST 4 hours/week of teaching and during the summer at least two full days of teaching during prime time. There are areas of growth and incremental work opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Current Youth CPR/AED and Personal Liability Insurance (you can get this during training period)
- Strong knowledge of anatomy to effectively cue and coach different exercises & movements and be able to teach that to kids -- proper form is key!
- Basic understanding of how to communicate with children
- Experience working with preschool age children
- Willing to go through background check & get fingerprinted for certain sites
- MUST BE HIGH ENERGY & ENGAGING! YOU NEED TO BRING “IT”
- Must love working with children & care about their wellbeing <3
- MUST be extremely responsible, loyal & PUNCTUAL -- we are working with children
- Desire to grow your business by expanding the Zing! mission through YOUR classes
- MUST be able to communicate via email, Slack, and text message
- Excellent communication & customer service skills
- MUST be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 unless they are exempt for medical/religious reasons and follow all Covid-19 protocols set in place
- Preference is given to those with certifications & extensive experience in group fitness, strong background working with children, and/or have performed for children/families.
- MUST be a “figure-outter”, self-starter, able to learn on-the-go, and EXCITED to bring positive energy & proud smiles to children.
- MUST have a flexible schedule to work weekday shifts (times will vary depending on the location). For Spring, there are some opportunities for weekday mornings and weekends should you want that, too.
