County Traffic Engineer

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a prominent municipality in the Vero Beach, FL area, is seeking a contract County Traffic Engineer to join their team! This is an exciting long-term contract opportunity to work in the public sector supporting community safety, planning, and transportation infrastructure. The role offers a competitive salary and full benefits package.

County Traffic Engineer Job Summary

Pay: $111,000 – $178,000 annually

Contract: Long Term

• Direct activities of the Traffic Division to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system across the county
• Plan, design, implement, and operate traffic control devices
• Conduct and review traffic studies and development proposals from a county-wide perspective
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and engineers on traffic impact assessments affecting county infrastructure
• Coordinate with local and state transportation agencies, including MPO, FDOT, Brightline, and transit services
• Supervise staff, manage departmental budgets, and provide expert traffic engineering guidance on county projects
  
  

County Traffic Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic engineering
• Valid Class E Florida Driver’s License
• Florida or reciprocal Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal traffic regulations
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience
• Ability to assess complex traffic issues and present concise engineering solutions
