Job Description
We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Auditor to perform a wide variety of diversified audit and assurance assignments under the supervision of different professionals. Responsibilities include working with the audit team in planning the engagement, performing the audit according to the specified audit programs and related testing, preparing financial statements, and working with the client to improve their systems and operations.
Essential Functions
- Become familiar with pronouncements of the FASB, AICPA, and when assigned to governmental engagements, the Uniform Guidance.
- Effectively communicates with the client to receive information necessary to complete the engagement with minimum disruption to the client.
- Assists in the planning of engagements, work paper completion, and assistance with financial statement preparation.
- Assess client internal controls and procedures through walkthroughs and assistance with the development of recommendations for improvement.
- Understand the rules, regulations, and Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA.
- Attend and participate in professional education, including in-house industry group meetings and participate in professionally sponsored training sessions.
- Uses the firm’s software programs to automate the process from trial balance to financial statement; this may include using technology to link the client’s software with the firm’s.
- Reconcile client records to trial balance, which may include analytical procedures; perform schedule computations of prepaid, accruals, property, and equipment; and calculate depreciation expense.
- Perform other accounting and auditing duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- May be required to perform all phases of an engagement, including report writing.
- Read industry-specific journals.
- Involvement in industry-specific group meetings.
- Become familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or master’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
Desired Skills And Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in public accounting.
- CPA or CPA candidate.
- Analytical, self-motivated, and possessing initiative.
- Strong, professional written and oral communication skills.
- Good organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Eye for detail and high regard for quality.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Must be comfortable with and willing to take responsibility and ownership of deadlines and the associated processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency and experience using CCH Engagement accounting products; Creative Solutions Fixed Assets, PPC Checkpoint Tools and QuickBooks helpful, but not required.
