As a Kitchen Aid at Zinnia Health, you will play a crucial role in supporting the culinary team to ensure that nutritious and appealing meals are prepared and served for our residents. You will assist with food preparation, kitchen maintenance, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, all while maintaining a supportive and therapeutic environment for individuals in recovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
- Cooking Assistance: Support the culinary team in cooking tasks, including operating kitchen appliances and cooking equipment.
- Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by following proper sanitation practices, including cleaning dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Inventory Management: Assist with receiving and storing food supplies, keeping track of inventory levels, and ensuring proper rotation of stock.
- Meal Service: Help with plating and serving meals to residents, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling and storage of food to prevent contamination.
- Team Support: Collaborate with kitchen staff and other facility team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Resident Interaction: Provide positive and supportive interactions with residents, promoting a respectful and encouraging atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred but not required.
- Skills: Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and handle kitchen equipment safely.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Certifications: Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification is a plus.
- Personal Attributes: Compassionate and understanding towards individuals in recovery, with a non-judgmental attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Communication: Able to communicate in English verbally and written.
